Shute: Government soldiers killing civilians would be held accountable

Hassan Ali Nur Shute, chairman of the court of armed forces ordered the investigative department in close collaboration with the court’s prosecutor to investigate on those killed in the recent fire exchange of government forces in Mogadishu.

He said, “anyone found guilty of killing civilians would appear before the law so as to be compensated on the suffering he/she inflicted the citizens.”
Government forces should act attentively so as to ensure no harm on the citizens, added Shute.

“A soldier who kills the people he was assigned to maintain their security does not deserve to be among the government forces”, remarks Shute.

He explicitly warned confrontation of government forces within the town which would result in most casualties to the citizens.

He says the duties of the security forces is not to kill people and would be worse if they kill civilians.
