Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Albares met in Madrid to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral ties.
Shoukry expressed his desire to see more commerce and Spanish direct investments in infrastructure, transportation, water, renewable energy, and electric mobility.
The ministers discussed climate change cooperation, Egypt’s hosting and presidency of the COP27, and Spain’s support for Egypt and the EU’s collaboration.
Egypt’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Ahmed Hafez, said they also talked about international and regional matters of mutual interest, such as Ukraine, Palestine, Libya, and Ethiopia’s Renaissance Dam.
During his visit, Spain’s King Felipe VI met with Shoukry. The meeting with the king, according to Hafez, covered regional and international matters of mutual interest.
