The Somali National Army (SNA) has carried out an operation in Gendershe area of Marka town, seizing an improvised explosive device (IED) vehicle.
The vehicle, a Surf, was loaded with explosives, and military officials said it was on its way to Mogadishu to carry out attacks.
The commander of the 16th Danab Commandos, Major Ismail Abdi Malik, told the media that the car full of explosives and its occupants were seized by Danab forces.
He said the forces had received information that the car bomb had been detonated and that they had carried out an operation to seize the car and its occupants.
Danab forces are conducting large-scale operations in the Lower Shabelle region, and have recently taken control of Al Shabaab-held areas in various ways.
