During clashes near Jenin in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, Israeli soldiers shot and killed an 18-year-old Palestinian man and injured three others, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
The man died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to the ministry. Gunfire also injured three people, including a 16-year-old kid, according to the statement. The dead individual was 21 years old, according to a previous report by the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.
Israeli troops carried out arrest raids in the northern West Bank, detaining 12 Palestinians, according to the Israeli military. Palestinians “fired live gunfire at the soldiers and hurled rocks and explosive devices at them,” according to the report, and the soldiers responded with fire.
Troops also issued a demolition order for the residence of the gunman who killed three people and injured scores in a Tel Aviv shooting earlier this month, according to the army.
During a raid near the West Bank city of Jericho on Tuesday, Israeli police killed a 20-year-old Palestinian man.
Following a string of deadly attacks inside Israel, arrest raids in the West Bank, clashes between Palestinians and Israeli police at Jerusalem’s most sensitive holy site, and rocket fire from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip for the first time in months, Israel and the Palestinians have been at odds for days.
In the 1967 Mideast war, Israel took east Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip, along with important holy sites sacred to Jews, Christians, and Muslims. The Palestinians want to establish their future state out of all three regions.
