TOKYO – Japan Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi paid a courtesy call on Jordan’s King Abdullah II, who is in Japan for an official visit.

According to the Japanese foreign ministry, they discussed the situation in the Middle East, especially the relationship between Israel and Palestine, the situation in Ukraine, and events in East Asia, including responses to North Korea.

The King and Minister Hayashi decided to continue working closely together to promote regional and global peace and stability.

In welcoming King Abdullah and Queen Rania to Japan, Hayashi stated that Japan values its relationship with Jordan as a cornerstone of Middle Eastern peace and stability, and that Japan would like to strengthen this relationship by capitalizing on the momentum generated by the King and Queen’s visit.

In response, King Abdullah expressed his appreciation for the kind hospitality offered by the Japanese side, and added that he was delighted to return to Japan and was eager to use his visit to expand the bilateral relationship.
