RIYADH: A Jordanian cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Bishr Khasawneh on Sunday decided to accept measures aimed at regulating the country’s labor market and reducing the number of unauthorized workers.
The Council of Ministers set a three-month timetable for implementing the processes, with the condition that the situation be reassessed after that time.
The judgment prohibits the recruitment of non-Jordanian expatriates, with the exception of domestic workers, those with specialized talents, and those working in the garment and textile sector.
The Ministry of Labor will publish specifics on how to implement the decision in the coming days and distribute them to its directorates across Jordan for implementation.
