The National Museum of Saudi Arabia hosted a five-day workshop on “Museums and their role in our society” for the European Union’s embassy in Riyadh and the Kingdom’s Museums Commission.

Patrick Simonnet, the EU ambassador to the Kingdom, said the workshop was a success and thanked the Museums Commission and the Saudi Ministry of Culture for their cooperation.

Museums, he said, are crucial for keeping people grounded in a world where change is occurring at a dizzying rate. For the benefit of humanity as a whole, we hope that this workshop series will shed light on why these locations are so crucial.

In an interview with the EU delegation, Museums Commission general manager of education and talent development Taghreed Al-Sarraj expressed his organization’s delight in working with the EU.

We’re happy to have contributed to the workshop series’s planning, knowing that it will be useful to scholars, teachers, and students.

Experts from the Egyptian Museum in Turin and from the Donnaregina Contemporary Art Museum in Naples gave lectures during the series. In May and June, there will be additional workshops.
