Qatari, Egyptian top diplomats to push for final deal to end US-Iran war

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has promised to continue coordination with Egypt “to push for a final and sustainable agreement on Iran that puts an end to the war and military escalation”, during a press conference with his Egyptian counterpart.

A statement by Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said both diplomats agreed “the region was going through difficult circumstances since the beginning of the US-Iran war, which has produced very harmful repercussions for the entire region”.

Qatar’s top diplomat “stressed the necessity and importance of ensuring the freedom, security and safety of navigation, whether in the Strait of Hormuz or the Bab al-Mandab Strait”.

Al-Thani said there was a need for “international navigation not to be held hostage or used as a tool for political blackmail by any party, while condemning all those who obstruct this movement.”
