Somali police forces have stepped up security operations in Mogadishu, amid growing fears that Al Shabaab could carry out bombings and other attacks in the city.
Makka Al Mukaraka Road has been set up at a new checkpoint, and police are cracking down on traffic.
Police also patrol neighborhoods in Mogadishu, sometimes closing roads and launching searches.
The new checkpoints in parts of Mogadishu and the ongoing police operations are said to be aimed at strengthening security in the capital in recent days.
Reports also say that police are searching for vehicles with explosives that Al Shabaab is planning to carry out to target targets in Mogadishu.
Al Shabaab recently carried out a suicide and direct attack on a hotel on Lido Beach in Mogadishu, as well as a planned attack inside Mogadishu Central Prison.
