TOKYO – Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi met Sultan Al-Jaber, the UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, who is in Japan for the G7 Ministers’ Meeting on Climate, Energy, and Environment in Sapporo, on Friday.
Minister Jaber provided an update on the state of preparations for COP28, which will be held in Dubai in late November and early December.
Hayashi congratulated Minister Jaber on his selection as the COP28 President-Designate and noted that Japan is completely committed to contribute fully to the negotiations in order to achieve a good outcome from COP28.
On Friday, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi met with the UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Sultan Al-Jaber. (MOFA) Hayashi stated that Japan values its strategic collaboration with the UAE and looks forward to expanding cooperation in a variety of industries.
The two ministers confirmed that they will continue to collaborate under the Comprehensive and Strategic Partnership Initiative, and they exchanged views on defense cooperation and the situation in Ukraine.
Minister Jaber underlined his desire to deepen bilateral ties with Japan.
