WASHINGTON: The US military launched a helicopter raid in eastern Syria late Saturday and detained a Daesh operative and two of his associates, according to a statement issued by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Wednesday.
“The capture of Hudayfah al Yemeni and his associates will disrupt the organization’s ability to plot and carry out operations,” according to the statement, which added that no civilians were killed or injured.
The US military announced earlier this month that it had killed a senior Daesh leader in Syria, naming him Khalid ‘Aydd Ahmad Al-Jabouri. According to the US, he was in charge of organizing Daesh assaults in Europe and Turkiye, as well as developing the group’s command structure in Turkiye.
