The first vice president of the Jubbaland administration, Mr. Mohamud Sayid Adan has opposed the approval of the Cabinet of the Judicial Service Commission and the Somali Petroleum Authority.
Speaking to the media in Kismayo, Sayid Adan pointed out that the approval process was illegal, according to the statement.
He added that certain individuals had been selected, which he said had not been consulted with stakeholders, such as the Supreme Court and civil society.
The Jubbaland vice president also stressed that at this time of transition, it is not appropriate to establish the two commissions.
Finally, he underlined that the Council of Ministers now has only a mandate, until a new government is formed.
Jubbaland became the second administration to oppose the approval of the Judicial Service Commission and the Somali Petroleum Authority, after Puntland, which called the formation of the commissions illegal.a
