On Friday, former Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin appeared in a Kuala Lumpur court where he was charged with abuse of power and money laundering.
Muhyiddin has always maintained that the charges against him are politically motivated, so he has entered a not guilty plea.
The maximum sentence for the money laundering charge is 15 years, and the maximum sentence for the abuse of power charge is 20 years that the former prime minister faces if he is found guilty.
He will also have to pay a hefty fine.
The judge released Muhyiddin on bail and asked for his passport.
