Fighter jets have bombed areas in the Middle Jubba region of southern Somalia.
The shelling took place in Amrerey area of Jilib district in Middle Jubba region.
Somali military officials said the bombing targeted a compound where al-Shabab fighters and officials were staying.
A total of 17 militants were killed in the shelling, while the head of Al-Shabaab’s finance in the Jubba regions, Sheikh Abdullahi Ali Aden, was killed in the shelling.
Somali commandos say al-Shabaab officers and fighters were present during the bombing of a sugar factory in Marere, where they were all killed.
