The Toyota Land Cruiser Commercial is the van variant of what is widely regarded as the world’s most rugged and reliable SUV. Land Cruisers are significantly more likely than Jeeps to come to your rescue if you are lost in the Outback or midway up a glacier.

The Commercial can be had in either a short wheelbase (SWB) or a long wheelbase (LWB) configuration, just like the standard Land Cruiser. Both configurations eliminate the back seats to increase cargo capacity and have a reinforced bulkhead dividing the cabin from the storage area, which is inaccessible to the driver and front seat passenger. The heavy-duty hose-down rubber mats and several lashing points are great bonuses.

The exterior of the Commercial is strikingly similar to that of the passenger vehicle; the only obvious difference is the complete blackout of the rearmost side windows by Toyota. Steel wheels, a black grille, and fabric seats come standard in the utilitarian ‘Utility’ trim.

The Commercial is just as capable off-road as the ordinary Land Cruiser because it has the same four-wheel-drive system. Air suspension, which is an available upgrade for the Land Rover Defender Hard Top 110, is not included.

The Defender Hard Top and other off-road competent pickups like the Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max, and Toyota Hilux are the main competition for the Land Cruiser Commercial. In the next pages, you will learn how it compares to similar products, how it drives, how luxurious the inside is, and how much it costs to maintain.

If you want to know how the Land Cruiser stacks up against the top commercial SUVs in terms of performance, interior quality, day-to-day usage, and towing capacity, then keep reading this evaluation. We’ll also let you know if you or your business should go out and buy it.

Don’t forget that the What Car? Leasing area is completely free to use, and that it may provide you with an estimate for any make and model of car or van that you require for personal or commercial use.
